The former Freezer Queen warehouse is in the process of being dismantled. Although there was a fight underway by activists to preserve the Outer Harbor building, Developer Gerry Buchheit is now scrapping the hulking structure. Buchheit’s original plan was to incorporate the Freezer Queen building into the development plans. Later, that decision became too costly, and the plan was restructured. The latest plan sees a new 23-story, primarily residential, building erected.
The complex is said to feature upwards of 120 apartments, two restaurants, a nightclub, boat slips, retail, and fitness facilities, with on-site parking for 600 cars.
Trautman Associates is designing the complex.
The new development is expected to have a $60 million price tag, and could open as early as 2017.
