One of the city’s most prolific artists is hosting a rare solo show at Studio Hart starting October 7. Tingley’s works can be viewed on the sides of buildings and in commercial businesses throughout the city. The whimsical nature of his works have the ability to transport viewers into imaginary realms that only the artist’s mind can conjure. This solo show will give us an inside look into Tingley’s notebook, which is a reflection of self, born of a need for immediacy and record keeping.
My notebook sketches explore memory, identity, and the human condition through iconic character portraits and psychological narratives.
Tingley’s sketches revolve around childhood memories and the wild and wacky world that we live in today… where reality is indeed stranger than fiction. Tingley’s use of colors is captivating, as is his ability to broadcast larger than life images that tug at our emotions.
