Don’t get me wrong, this was a great win, but this is a game the Bills SHOULD have won. If it was a healthy Garappolo, I would have said the Bills would have had a tough time pulling this one out in the end. Facing a 3rd string QB (with a thumb issue), you absolutely HAVE to come out of Foxboro with a victory. The second I heard that Brissett was starting, my whole attitude changed on this game. You don’t pay your head coach (who is supposed to be a defensive guru) over 5 million dollars to lose to a 3rd string QB. Rex and company have done an amazing job to lure the fans back into what may be an interesting season after all. You know what Rex statement I loved most of all in the post game press conference, “they were missing a player…we brought our team.” Rex did not say anything about missing his number one wide-out or his number one defensive stud, he took care of business and did exactly what you are supposed to do to a rookie QB.
Some of the players that deserve a TON of credit for these past two victories are Zach Brown, Preston Brown and Lorenzo Alexander.
Some of the players that deserve a TON of credit for these past two victories are Zach Brown, Preston Brown and Lorenzo Alexander (who has made us all forget about the release of Manny Lawson). Preston has stepped into a role and is making plays every single week while Zach has quietly become the leading tackler in the NFL. That hit on Brissett that caused the fumble was the biggest play in the game and I loved that Zach really brought the wood. As far as Tyrod Taylor, I think that is the type of game that he needs to bring every single week in order to make this season meaningful. I am still very concerned about some of the 10 yard swing passes that he is missing and that he does not seem to have the accuracy back on the long ball. He did however make some great plays with his feet and found the open receivers throughout the whole day. It is a big step in the right direction and the type of numbers that are good enough IF your defense plays to their potential.
It felt pretty darn good to hear the most spoiled fans in the NFL booing in the first quarter.
This has been a very up and down season so far and if you look at the teams around the NFL, you have to start to wonder who the contenders and pretenders are right now. I am not thrilled that the Cards lost to the Rams yesterday as it does take away a little bit of the shine from the win last week. Who have the Patriots beaten so far? They barely beat the same Arizona team that the Bills dominated, a Dolphins team that is a total mess and a Houston Texans team that looked like they forgot how to play football. Tom Brady comes back next week and in no way am I saying the Patriots are not good, I am just making a point that the Pats have not really done a whole lot this year. As Brady shakes off the rust against the hapless Browns next week, they go on a four game run vs Bengals, Steelers, Bills and Seahawks. Go beat the Rams and let’s keep this momentum rolling as Dareus and Henderson are both available next week. Most people left this team for dead two weeks ago (myself included) and I will say one thing, it felt pretty darn good to hear the most spoiled fans in the NFL booing in the first quarter.
