The opening of a restaurant at the Marcy Casino appears to be one step closer to becoming a reality… we hope. Trustees from the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy (BOPC) have submitted their recommendation requesting that The City (Mayor Brown) signs off on the proposal. After vetting the idea and allowing due process, via public meetings and discussions, the community has spoken and the restaurant is something that the vast majority is in favor of. And why not? Who the heck wouldn’t want a restaurant at this beautiful location/building in the heart of Delaware Park?
“We’re happy that the process is at this point,” said restaurateur Jason Davidson, who has proposed the opening of The Terrace @ The Marcy Casino along with business partner Mike Shatzel. “We’re encouraged by the public feedback and the support that has been generated, and we’re looking forward to getting a the go ahead to proceed and possibly be open by the holiday season or spring of 2017.”
Moving forward, the BOPC and the restaurateurs behind The Terrace proposal will wait to hear The Mayor’s response and recommendation. The decision is literally in his hands at this point. After a public process that has led to so much public support, let’s hope that he makes the right decision.
