Porchfest II 2016

buffalo-porchfest-buffalo-ny-2016-fall-1Porchfest is here again! This is the event where people’s front porches come alive with the sound of live music. The festival takes place in and around the Elmwood Village, and has become a mainstay of the festival circuit in Buffalo.

Every time that Porchfest rolls around, there are different porches and different bands featured. Even some of the Elmwood Village businesses get into the act. Mother and daughter team, Jennifer and Kilby Bronstein (owners of Half & Half) are a great example of small business owners who contributing to the action.

“Kilby and I love music, we love the village and we love the people here,” Jennifer told me. “Doug Yoemans (featured act) is like an icon in Buffalo, we thought he would be the perfect guy to help celebrate the new season and bring the porch fest down to the gateway of the Village. It’s important for us at Half and Half to get involved in porch fest because we so value our community and wanted to be a part of the Elmwood village not just as a business but on a personal level as well.

“By giving our porch; outdoor tent, to porch fest we are connecting with the village on a different level. Porch fest is a great way for people in the Elmwood village to come together as a community. It’s a music festival unlike any other. By turning your porches or business into music venues you are opening your doors to your neighbors and your community.”
