OFest! is the harvest march parade that marks the end of Beer Week in Buffalo (currently underway). The festivities include a ceremonial keg parade through the Old First Ward, wearing your finest German apparel. The celebration is also the kick-off of the Oktoberfest season, which has become laden with festivals throughout the city in recent years. Last year was the inaugural OFest!. Now, the event is on its way towards becoming a full tilt kick-off of Buffalo ‘s fervent Oktoberfest beer scene.
The day kicks off with the parade at 11:30am (promptly), starting at Undergrounds Coffee House (fuel up!). From there revelers march down Hamburg Street to Gene McCarthy’s/Old First Ward Brewing Co., where the ceremonial blessing of keg takes place. There will be drink specials and German fare served up throughout the day (free pint with food purchase). There will also be prizes for best German garb (male and female). The football game will be aired at the pub, for those who can’t miss game day.
Come celebrate new and old beer traditions at OFest! in the Old First Ward.
