National Buffalo Wing Festival Introduces Inaugural Chicken Wing 5K

ChickenWing5klogo-300x300@2xBuffalo-Ninja-Warrior-450x600The National Buffalo Wing Festival kicks off tomorrow – Saturday, September, 3. This festival certainly puts Buffalo on the map for its love of chicken wings.  Thousands of people attend the event, eating wings from the best wing cookers in the world.

As much as I like the idea of a chicken wing festival, I cant support the chicken wing eating contests that take place at the festival. I’m all for eating wings – just not in a way that glamorizes glutenous mass consumption of chickens. That said, I do support the inaugural Chicken Wing 5K run that takes place this Sunday. Also in 2016, Wing Fest hosts the Buffalo Ninja Warrior Challenge, which includes the following athletic challenges:

  • Saturday Sept 3rd Noon: Qualifying Course (6 Obstacles)
  • Sunday Sept 4th Noon: Kid’s Competition
  • Sunday Sept 4th 3pm: Finals Course (10 Obstacles)

It’s good to see the wing festival beefing up on a couple of healthy aspects. Along with the runs and the challenges, there’s live music to look forward too, as well as a Miss Buffalo Wing 16+ contest. Oh yeah, and there’s also Bobbing for Wings…
