The Buffalo Bike Pageant is a mashup between artists, makers and bike enthusiasts. Each year, qualified participants are provided with bikes from GObike Buffalo. From there, the bikes are manipulated, decorated and then paraded at a pageant-style gala event. This is a fantastic event for makers and DIYers who love to tackle creative and artistic projects involving bikes. Once the bikes have been reconstructed and/or decorated, they are auctioned off to raise money for GObike Buffalo programming and initiatives.
A beauty pageant for bicycles.
Appropriately, this year’s theme is “Buffalo”. The actual pageant gala will be held on Wednesday, October 14 at DiG Buffalo – 640 Ellicott Street. The gala kicks off at 7pm. There will be food and drink, and plenty of awesome looking bike creations. In the end, the proceeds from the event will go towards making this city a more bike friendly place.
For anyone who would like to submit an idea, he or she still has time…
Put your artsy-crafty thinking caps on and get rolling with some ideas. In order to participate in this event, people are asked to submit their ideas and plans. From there, the bikes will be handed over to those with the best submissions. Simply send your proposal to buffalobikepageant@gmail.com. Submissions are accepted until Friday, September 23, 2016. Don’t forget that it’s a Buffalo theme this year!
