Buffalo’s beloved BreadHive Café/Bakery has made it into the Travel section of the New York Times. BreadHive is a great ambassador for Buffalo, not just because the bakers deliver wholesome food, the business is built on a progressive cooperative model as well. Being a cooperative, the worker-owners tend to care more about the well-being of the business because they all have a stake in it.
Times writer Michael Kaminer discovered first hand the benefits of being a BreadHive stakeholder and a BreadHive customer. The café/bakery represents all that is good in Buffalo. All of the ingredients are thoughtfully sourced, and procured in and around Buffalo whenever possible.
You are not going to find many places like BreadHive around, which is why they ended up on the radar of the New York Times.
