Welcome BACK to the BACK ROOM

Back-Room-Hardware-Buffalo-NYFive months ago, Back Room at Allentown Hardware was shut down due to the lack of a dance permit. Since that time, owner Charlie Goldman has conducted a $100K renovation that he says will have the music club back up and operational, starting this coming weekend. In order to get the club up to snuff, Goldman was required to install a new bathroom sprinkler system – it was the Buffalo Fire Department that originally shut down the business.

Now that The City has given Goldman permission to reopen Back Room, he is planning on hosting a Welcome Back celebration that includes Front Room and Back Room. Fans of the local DJ scene will be happy to have an additional place to dance in Allentown in just a few days. The closing of Back Room angered the DJ/dance community who felt that the club was being targeted for reasons other than a lack of dance permit – Allentown neighbors have been known for being vocal about noise, litter and disorderly conduct in the past. There were those who felt that Back Room was an easy target, while others saw the closure as a victory for law and order.

Regardless of the happenstance, Back Room is charging back, permit in hand, to conduct business as usual (while taking the concerns of the neighborhood seriously at the same time).
