The former La Tee Da and Rust Belt Books spaces on Allen Street are coming together to create one restaurant called Falley Allen. The name comes from Lewis Falley Allen, a gentleman-farmer who once owned much of the property in Allentown. Falley Allen was also a big tree advocate and wanted to see Allentown lined with as many trees as possible. The man was way ahead of his time, thus the tribute in the form of this honorary name recognition. Hopefully the dead tree in front of the restaurant can be replaced by the time of the restaurant opening – that is the city’s responsibility, and Falley Allen would be oh so grateful to see his neighborhood kept in tip top shape.
Falley Allen is the brainchild of celebrated local chef Chris Daigler who will be designing the menu to reflect an American bistro vibe that is to come. The menu will consist of approachable American dishes and drinks – perfect for a laid back Allentown setting. With the recent addition of Billy Club, and Alley Cat before that, this stretch of Allen Street is really coming around nicely. Not to mention all of the live music that emanates from this part of town. A hip new bistro should fit right in with the mix.
Currently new windows are being added to the front of the building, and the inside is a work in progress as you can see from the Falley Allen Facebook page.
