Lockhouse Ibisco Bitter Launch Party

Lockhouse Distillery & Bar has created the first bitter apertif-style spirit to be produced by a New York State distillery. Ibisco Bitter is the fifth product produced by the distillery – other spirits are vodka, gin, barreled gin, and Revolution Coffee Liqueur (in partnership with Public Espresso + Coffee).

Ibisco Bitter is made from 18 ingredients including hibiscus flower, vanilla bean, yohimbe bark, chamomile flower, gentian root, and fresh grapefruit peels, all of which contribute to the spirit’s bitter, sweet, floral, and earthy flavors.

“Bitter apertifs such as Ibisco Bitter have long been used by many cultures to promote both health and digestion as they act to both soothe the stomach and speed up the metabolism of the consumer,” said Cory Muscato, Lockhouse Distillery partner. “Try it in a classic cocktail such as a Negroni, or simply mix it with club soda for a delicious and refreshing treat.”

Lockhouse will be unveiling the new product from 6pm to midnight on Monday, August 15. Distillery partners will be on-hand that night to toast to the new addition and talk about the inspirations behind it. Bar manager Bri Alford will be serving up a number of distinctive cocktails made with Ibisco Bitter, including:

  • Barrel Aged Negroni – Lockhouse Barreled Gin, Ibisco Bitter, NYS Sweet Vermouth, orange twist
  • Luce Del Sole – Lockhouse Vodka, Ibisco Bitter, grapefruit, pomegranate, dehydrated orange
  • Ibisco Spritzer – Ibisco Bitter, orange, champagne
  • Boulevardier – Ibisco Bitter, NYS Sweet Vermouth, Rye

This new cocktail-friendly spirit is the perfect addition to an already awesome line-up of spirits produced right in The Cobblestone District. Lockhouse has become a staple bar haunt for many who frequent the waterfront, with its distillery tours and awesome team of bartenders who know how to make some super crafty drinks.

Along with serving up Ibisco Bitter drinks, Lockhouse will also be selling 750ml bottles for $30. After the unveiling, the distillery will be concentrating on distribution – the spirit will soon be available at liquor stores, bars, and restaurants throughout the region.
