I bet that you didn’t know that there was a burlesque troupe in Buffalo called Femme Noire. I bet that you didn’t know that there was a place called Leopard Lounge in Buffalo. I bet that if I told you that the contemporary burlesque fusion dance company was preparing to officially debut at the Leopard Lounge, you would be interested in attending.
Like priceless art, Femme Noire aims to inspire and provoke its audience.
On Saturday, August 27, Artistic Director Ebony Jones (otherwise known as MaDamn Noire), will join Vivi L’Amour Noire, Cocoa Noire, Lady Noire and Satine Noire, in a sensational dance performance that will incorporate elements of classic burlesque, hip-hop, contemporary and jazz. The troupe will be joined by local Buffalo hip-hop funk band PeaceBridge.
Femme Noire busted out an initial performance at The Infringement Festival – The 9th Ward, followed up by the Prince/Bowie dance party at Mohawk. Now the girls are ready to take the show on their own road, by performing at The Leopard Lounge located inside The Town Ballroom.
Wanna come see something fun, different, and all within furry leopard print walls?
The upcoming show is being billed as “Sex, Jugs & Rock n’ Roll”. With that in mind, guests can expect to be presented with upbeat music (covers and originals), dance, dazzling sequins, leopard motifs, a 50/50 raffle drawing, a Pure Romance vendor, goodie bag giveaways, DJ Assata Shapvrr, MC Monica, a fully stocked bar, and a lot of body groovin’ and booty shakin’.
They focus on movements that show off the curves, complexities and strengths of all women, and show them in a new and powerful light.
