‘125’ Tattoo Studio & Art Collective is currently exhibiting a hip hop and graffiti inspired show, that includes plenty of urban photography. ‘Don’t Sweat The Technique’ was was curated by Jess Fox, who says that it was a word of mouth show. It all started with sending some signals out on social media, and it didn’t take long before 40 artists had been assembled, from Buffalo, NYC, and Chicago. “It’s dirty, urban and gritty,” says Fox. “A couple of the crowd favorites are by HERT and photographer Val Dunne, who included a couple of her images of prolific Buffalo artist Mark Freeland. Dunne is in the process of compiling her full cast of images into a book about Freeland.
“We are overwhelmed by the amount of raw talent Buffalo has to offer,” said gallery co-owner Psyko Kupkake. “Several artists have never shown before and really made quite an impact. By far our best show yet. Ted Hawkins and I are thrilled with the amount of artists that jumped at the chance to be included. We’ve already started compiling artist lists for the next two upcoming shows… it’s unreal – we are excited to bring so many talented artists together.”
