Do you miss The Continental? How about The Icon? Remember the Adventure Club? These were some of Buffalo’s greatest bars and clubs. They played some of the best music around, and always managed to attract a killer crowd. At some point, someone is going to have to open a club that rivals these former institutions. Until then, we must rely of the occasional tribute event that pays homage to these classic venues.
The ballroom at the Century Grill will be transformed into a unique dance space featuring DJs from the Continental with our fireplace lounge featuring Glenn the Gat spinning Britpop to lounge to alt metal.
On Saturday, August 13, the only place to be in Buffalo is the ballroom at the Century Grill. This is a fantastic space to hold an event of this nature, with plenty of room to dance and relive the days of yore.
There will be no crappy pop music, no grunge.
90s Rewind features some of the heaviest hitting DJs from the era, who are still doing their part to keep the spirit alive. The following confirmed DJs aim to please, as they bring back the 90s in all of its glory.
Ken has been a DJ since the late 80’s starting out as a DJ on WBNY in 1987. Between 1990 and 1997 Ken spun at such Buffalo mainstays as the ICON, The Edge, and the Continental, before heading to NYC. In 2001 he DJ’d an electroclash party called SUCKER in Manhattan. Currently, Ken DJs a monthly party in the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn called 45 RPM spinning New Wave, Post Punk, Alternative Rock and guilty pleasures from his 45 collection.
Bill has been an active member of the Buffalo DJ community for nearly 15 years. As half of Transmission he brings you the annual Cure vs Smiths dance party, in addition to being involved with the Depeche Mode vs New Order dance party, the Continental Reunion and a semi-regular guest at Radiation.
Daniel has been DJing since the early 80s at clubs such as The Library, The Continental, Club Diablo, Radiation, and the Bat Cave.
Glenn the Gat Lasky
Glenn has DJ’d and been in numerous bands throughout the 1990’s. After starting at WBNY in college he moved over to WEDG to work for his mentor, Rich Wall. Glenn DJ’d at the pioneering Kingsnake Lounge, hosting a lounge night, The Atomic for rock, and the Old Pink for everything in between. But for the Century 90’s rewind, he’ll dig back to the glory days of St Catherine’s Gord’s Place Wasteland Wednesdays. Martin Streek (RIP) always had the crowd dancing to brit-pop hits at Gord’s, and Glenn was there. Step out to 90’s Mad-Chester in the Fireplace Room this Saturday.
Tickets now available for $10 presale (plus nominal service charge). Tickets will be also be available at Century Grill. $15 day of event.
