Welcome infill on West Chippewa

Finally, Buffalo is starting to see some infill at key parcels in prime neighborhoods. Construction if the new Evergreen Health building is a welcome sight in the West Village. With the brand new 250 Delaware Avenue located a block away, Chippewa is looking better than ever. Evergreen’s five-story health facility doubles the size of its current operation in the Roanoke Building, located next door at the corner of Elmwood and Chippewa – directly across from Hutch Tech.

Already, the $11 million building is bringing back life to this block, which has been pretty sleepy over the years – ever since Vito’s deli closed at the corner. The addition of new office space for the agency’s primary care practice, pharmacy, and numerous other supportive health services, will add vitality and much needed connectivity. The juxtaposition of the Historic Roanoke Building (206 S. Elmwood Avenue) and this new modern expansion (formerly a parking lot) will look impressive when it is finally complete. The addition is designed by Rochester’s SWBR Architects.

Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
