A new clothing cooperative is launching in Allentown. Keep in mind that this is not your typical clothing store or fashion shop. Rather, it is an alt-friendly co-op, that is considered totally unique to Buffalo. This city has its fair share of LGBTQ bars and events, but as of yet there has not been a clothing cooperative dedicated to LGBTQ+, underground culture and trans community. A store of this nature should make for some awesome browsing for the entire community – at least shoppers that are looking for some clothing and accessories that don’t toe the JCrew and GAP line (maybe GAP 80s).
On Saturday, July 9, No Labels Clothing Cooperative will be hosting its launch party. The celebration will be held at the shop – 224 Allen Street, and will feature “food, festivities and mirth”. The event will also showcase much of what Buffalo offers when it comes to the alt community, including:
- Projections of avant-garde film director legends such as kenneth anger, Derek Jarman, and Peter Christopherson (Coil,Throbbing Gristle)
- A music line-up of all LGBTQ+ artists will be playing throughout the night
- Artists include: uncertain, Cthuhlord
- Performances by local Drag Kings and queer poets
- The night ends with a premier DJ set by Florian Ayala Fauna of a mix of all queer artists
