A new commuter bike locker has been installed at the LaSalle Station. The locker is intended for cyclists who want to bike to the station (Main Street and LaSalle Avenue) and then take the Metro Rail to downtown places of work. It’s another piece of the green transportation connectivity puzzle that is being built in Buffalo, to encourage more people to bike instead of drive.
The bike locker is conveniently located along the new Rail-to-Trail path that winds up intersecting the station.
“These lockers are great because you don’t need a key,” stated Thea Hassan at GObike Buffalo. “Anyone can use them with their bike lock/padlock and they’re right at the exit of the Rail to Trail and entrance to the metro at LaSalle Station. Very exciting for alt trans!”
In conjunction with this free bike safety feature, new trail markings have been added, making the trail safer for cyclists.
Buffalo residents are also awaiting the arrival of 100 additional bike racks. The City of Buffalo was supposed to deliver the racks to their intended locations in May. As of yet, there is no word when those racks will make an appearance.
