What started off as private showings in people’s homes has gained some legs and will now be a show at Ashker’s on Elmwood Avenue. The journey got off the ground back in 2012 when three artists decided that they wanted to show their works in intimate settings, “to support each other with peer reviews and to share ideas and resources.”
Since that time, additional artists have joined the fray, and a small art movement has been born. “As individual artists we were showing works through juried exhibits but felt restricted by the number of pieces accepted,” expressed members of Group 263. “This was limiting our ability to show the full scope of our work.”
Today Group 263 is comprised of five artists – Brian Boutin (Water Colorist), John Lloyd (Silk Painter), Kathleen Corff Rogers (Graphic Designer/Photographer), Gethyn Soderman (Fiber Artist), and Rick Steinberg (Photographer/Handcraft Framer).
Ashker’s will be the first public setting where the artists will show as a collective. They say that their eclectic styles and artistic approaches will be a big draw for their upcoming shows.
