716 Day – Nickel City Triathlon

Saturday, 716 Day is going to be a busy, busy day for Buffalo. Between all of the races, celebrations, parties, festivals, outings, etc., the city will be hopping. Adding to all of the excitement is the Nickel City Triathlon that takes place at Gallagher Beach at Buffalo’s Outer Harbor State Park.

Age group Olympic, Sprint, Duathlon, and Aquabike races – athletes race on the same course that the past Elites and Olympians raced on.

To get an idea about how neat this event is, take a look at the video below. It gives an awesome perspective on the swimming, the cycling and the running. The Outer Harbor appears to be the perfect location for a triathlon.

For the 2 years Buffalo was the host of the USAT Elite National Championships where the prize purse was the richest in the series at $40,000.
