Throwback Thursday: Urban Explorers Uncover the Lost Ruins of Buffalo NY

For those of you who fancy yourselves urban explorers, there’s a fun-yet dated video/TV documentary that showcases a number of majestic architectural wonders that the city has to offer. Although the video was produced before the Memorial Auditorium was demolished, there are plenty of current take-aways that are still of interest in this day and age.

The video features a bunch of throwbacks buildings – one that is no longer (video primer – The Aud), one that is in flux (Central Terminal), one that should be getting more attention (Church of Transfiguration) and one that has slowly been gaining some traction (The Silos).

Check out the following video and step back in time to get an urban explorer’s take on a few of this city’s prime restoration candidates. Fortunately the future for some of these buildings looks a lot brighter these days.

Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
