Music is Art (MiA) is launching a boot camp, designed to get young musicians up and running, and in tune with the ins and outs of the music industry. Learning to play an instrument and form a band is one thing. Learning to navigate the music industry is another. There can be numerous trip-ups and hardships down that competitive road, especially for those who are looking to break into the industry.
Participants will gain basic job skills such as punctuality, hard work, discipline, collaboration, and team work. Powerful life skills will be learned and absorbed throughout the week.
If you take music seriously, and you’re looking to get a handle on your future, consider participating in MiA’s Music Industry Boot Camp
Participants will learn how to:
- Develop a contract/agreement with band-mates
- Create a web presence with both social media and music websites
- Seek financial support
- Produce a professional studio recording of at least one song
- Release music on iTunes, Spotify, and the like
- Manage band image and marketing
- Work on video shooting, editing, and uploading
- Improve stage presence and other star-worthy skills
In the end, participants will not only be on their way towards grasping a clear understanding of the intricacies of the music industry, they will also be given “a professional recording, t-shirt merchandise, top quality photographs and a guaranteed spot to perform at the Music is Art Festival on September 10, 2016.”
The summer camp and intensive training program will be held at Buffalo Center for Arts Technology (BCAT), for one week – Monday, August 15 through Friday August 19, 2016. Each band or ensemble will also get a chance to spend a day at GCR Recording Studio.
Registration is now open for the Music Industry Boot Camp. While there is no age restriction, youth in grades 9 through college are encouraged to visit the Music is Art website and registration page at http://www.musicisart.org/summer-boot-camp. Pre-registration is required. BCAT is located at 1221 Main Street, Buffalo and GCR Recording Studio is located at 564 Franklin Street, Buffalo. Sponsored by First Niagara Foundation.
