The Smith Theatre, Shea’s black box theatre, has been used for many different types of functions, among them fashion shows, local theatre, and hospitality space for major productions performing at Shea’s. On June 30, Reflex Productions welcomes NYC based trumpet player Jumaane Smith to the theatre, adding professional jazz performance to its many uses.
Jumaane Smith, born and raised in Seattle, graduated from The Juilliard School in 2005 and has remained in the New York City area working as a professional musician. He has also studied privately with Wynton Marsalis.
Smith has toured and recorded with Michael Buble for the past 10 years and was also the special guest soloist/opener for Jackie Evancho’s, “Songs of the Silver Screen” world tour. In addition to working with Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock and many others, Jumaane has performed on several Grammy winning recordings. His critically acclaimed debut album, “I Only Have Eyes For You” features Michael Buble, Jackie Evancho and Naturally 7. Smith’s musical accomplishments also include a performance on the Grammy Awards with Stevie Wonder, appearing on American Idol, and performing at The White House. Jumaane has scored and performed music for the critically acclaimed films, “Handsome Harry” and “Being In The World”*.
