If you’re going to have a Babeville, then there’s going to have to be a Babefest. Buffalo hometown heroine Ani DiFranco has announced that she will be in town to play a show that will see fellow political fems, Chastity Brown (singer songwriter) and comedian Lizz Winstead (former head writer of The Daily Show) in tow.
Ani states that the festival will be one of ‘music and ideas”, perfectly timed to occur in the wake of the Democratic and Republican conventions in July. Each year will have a theme, with 2016’s ringing loud and clear – “Vote Dammit”. It’s easy to complain about politics, but if you’re not out there voting, then you’re part of the problem, not the solution.
“We need to not go slack this election year, and take all the elections very seriously because, without a Democrat majority in Congress, some very important changes will not be made,” Ani states. “There are so many things that need addressing right now and we need to, as voters, lay the groundwork for that change to happen. For someone like me, I’d rather paint the Congress green, or purple and yellow, but for right now, we get a choice between red and blue.”
