On Saturday, June 4th, from noon to 3PM, Bailey Fights Blight invites the community to a mural brainstorming session. Artist Nicholas Miller will be on hand to help direct the initiative. Join the Bailey Avenue Business Association and the University District Community Development Association, as they embark upon a series of brainstorming sessions:
- Saturday, June 4th, Noon – 3PM: Bring ideas for what kind of public art you’d like to see on Bailey Avenue. There will be plenty of ways for you to get creative
- Saturday, July 9th, Noon – 3PM: Start refining ideas from the previous brainstorming session and work to finalize designs for the Bailey Avenue murals
… that will lead to a number of Community Painting Days:
- Saturday, July 16th, 10AM – 2PM: Join professional artists, business owners, and community members as the group starts to paint the designs created through community brainstorming. There will be a neighborhood cleanup for those less artistically inclined
- Saturday, July 23rd, 10AM – 2PM: Continue to work on the murals along Bailey Avenue and host another cleanup
- Saturday, July 30th, 10AM – 2PM: Work to finish the murals on Bailey Avenue and host another cleanup
Bring your ideas… bring your sketches… bring your passion to a grassroots arts project that will help to change the face of Bailey Avenue.
All of these sessions will be held at the newly reopened, spectacular Varsity Theatre located at 3165 Bailey Avenue.
