On Friday, June 17, 2016, from 7–11 pm, the Albright-Knox invites everyone to attend an event like no other. Emerge is considered an artistic panorama of epic proportions. An indoor AK collection component will feature contemporary artist Mark Bradford, who will be on hand to celebrate the works of Clyfford Still (Shade: Clyfford Still / Mark Bradford). The history of sculpture, from postwar years to the present will also be reveled (Defining Sculpture).
emerge i-‘merj verb to come into view; to become apparent, important, or prominent; our massive summer celebration.
The outdoor component is a whole different story. That’s where the party will take on a more flamboyant air, complete with a thirty piece marching band – Mucca Pazza. Textile artist Amanda Browder will also be on the scene, where guests will be invited to participate in the completion of one of her large scale works.
Along with a menagerie of fabulous art and musical amusements, Emerge will also offer up plenty of comestibles and libations.
