An ultra inspiring grassroots gathering is scheduled to take place in Buffalo on Wednesday, June 8, 2016. The event is being organized by Buffalo’s Crossroads Collective and the New Economy Coalition – two groups that identify with, and are looking to promote, the ideals of 700 international leaders who are engaged in the fight for economic democracy.
The local and international movement, called CommonBound, will introduce people to this city’s current and future role in the International Movement for a New Economy. By creating strong partnerships among activists, creators, growers, grassroots educators, organizers, and researchers, the CommonBound philosophy is sets out to push the economic, climate, social and racial justice envelope right here in Buffalo.
Grassroots organizations that are already rallying around CommonGround include Open Buffalo, Massachusetts Avenue Project, Partnership for the Public Good, Public Accountability Initiative, PUSH Buffalo, Ujima Company and WASH Project.
Join advocates for an economic democracy on Wednesday, June 8, for a free block party, with performances, games, speakers and food. Come learn about the roles that Buffalo activists are involved in, and the work that is already underway to build a city that is just, inclusive, energizing, inventive, fruitful and open to new ideas.
