Co-Fundraiser: Little Libraries Silent Auction

There are over 36,000 little libraries around the world which offer free books for curbside education which help to raise literacy rates Adding to this number has been on the top of most block clubs, businesses, and many Buffalonians’ lists.

Now your chance is here to acquire one of these little guys! The The University Heights Tool Library and The Foundry are proud to host a Silent Auction Fundraiser on Thursday, June 23rd from 6pm to 9pm at the newly renovated Varsity Theater. Over a dozen little libraries will be on hand, constructed by Tool Library, Foundry, and neighborhood volunteers.  These volunteers have worked tirelessly over the past few months to finish these one-of-a-kind little libraries so we hope their efforts can be shared by the whole WNY community.

Entry to the event is free, so bring friends, family, and neighbors looking to add a little library to their street. There will be hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, a 50/50 raffle, tours of the Varsity Theatre, and basket auction for attendees to enjoy as well.

The funds from the event will support both organizations’ goals of hiring an AmeriCorps VISTA member to program, coordinate, and create more community building and educational projects like this in the future. Without the continued support and collaboration from community members and organizations, this type of work for the greater Buffalo community would not be possible, so this event is for you as much as it is for the organizations.

Continue to be an integral contributor toward making this city a more equitable, enjoyable and economically strong community by attending this Thursday.

Thursday, June 23, 2016 | 6pm to 9pm | The Varsity Theater – 3165 Bailey Avenue

Additional details are available on the Facebook event.

The starting price for the little libraries are the auction will be $150, where they usually go for around $200-400 online so this is a chance you can’t miss out on!
