One of the greatest rewards gained from starting a community garden, is the ability to throw garden parties. Each year, the fine folks behind Pelion Community Garden at City Honors School invite students, teachers, neighbors and friends to come out and celebrate all of the beauty and bounty that comes hand in hand with tending a productive plot of land.
It’s strawberry season! That means that there will be plenty of strawberry treats being passed around. There will also be live music and a food truck. Students will be showcasing artwork, poetry and musical talents throughout the course of the event.
As part of the celebration, everyone will be paying tribute to the school’s triumphant acquisition of Fosdick Field. In future years, part of this celebration might include a competitive game, hosted on the school’s new home field. Combined with the fruits yielded by such an exemplary neighborhood community garden, the combination would certainly help to bolster this growing wholesome tradition.
