Pitch Your “Idea Worth Spreading” to Speak at TEDxBuffalo 2016

If you’ve ever thought about speaking and/or performing at TEDxBuffalo, now could be your time. There are so many people in Buffalo working on fascinating and inspirational projects all the time. TEDxBuffalo is a powerful way to get your thoughts and ideas heard, by leaders and change makers throughout the community (and beyond). From technology to the environment, urbanist actions to transportation initiatives… big or small, if your idea is worth spreading, then TEDx wants to hear it.

“It never ceases to amaze me, the passion and the ideas that people in our region have,” says Peter Herr, TEDxBuffalo’s Director. “We’re looking for speakers who can share their projects and ideas with an audience that is looking to be challenged, and that is looking for inspiring things that continue to help our community thrive. As TEDxBuffalo continues to grow, the event offers the speakers a regional and global audience.”

Previously successful TEDxBuffalo talks include:

  • How the sharing economy and mobile technologies are at work in Buffalo’s University Heights neighborhood.
  • The significance of dreams and visions at the end of life.
  • Why amateur astrophotographers can capture imagination better than the professionals.
  • How a South Buffalo program challenged the way we educate and integrate high school dropouts.

If you’re at all nervous about delivering a presentation, then don’t worry. Presenters work alongside coaches to create and perfect their deliveries. There’s also a constructive rehearsal, and myriad other ways to prepare for the big day. In the end, your idea will be heard, and your TEDx video will be available for all to see.

TEDxBuffalo 2016 is set to take place in mid-October. Date and location will be announced on

Pitch applications will be accepted through Sunday, May 22.
