Music is Art announces High School Battle of the Bands winner and unveils 2016 festival poster

The 12th annual Battle of the High School Bands has resulted in a winner – French Quarter Hounds (see photo below) from Kenmore East High School. The band will go on to play on the main stage at the 2016 Music is Art (MiA) festival on September 10th. The band will also receive a professional photo shoot with rock photographer Bob Mussell and recording time at Robby Takac’s GCR Audio. Runners up in the battle were One Way to Nowhere from St. Joes, Canisius and Nichols (2nd pace), and Urban Reverie from Cleve Hill and Amherst High.

“We had a record number of submissions from high school bands this year. It was difficult to narrow it down. We’ve got some big talent here in WNY and we at MiA are proud to support this age group as they navigate their way through the local music scene” said Tracy Shattuck, MiA executive director.

To kick off the battle, Takac (bassist for the Goo Goo Dolls and MiA founder) unveiled the 2016 MiA festival poster. “This year’s 14th Annual MiA Festival will be another unparalleled dose of WNY’s talent and creativity concentrated on the grounds of one of the most beautiful settings on earth,” said Takac. “We encourage you to join the magic; bring the kids, your grandparents and any outcasts or free thinkers you may know to this uniquely Buffalo event… there’s a place for you all here. If you have an instrument, a voice or just a cool idea that you really need to share… we welcome you.”

Performers interested in participating in the Music is Art Festival can apply for consideration at will be open until June 30th.
