Giant Chess and Checkers Appear at Canalside.

Sometimes it’s the little things that can make big impacts on areas. Take, for example, the giant chess and checkers sets that are now located near one of the Swartz bridges at Canalside. The relatively new feature gives visitors a chance to interact with each other in a different sort of way.

The two oversized games join a pool table, Foosball, oversized Connect Four, and myriad other games found at the waterfront. These days, there’s a game for just about everyone.

I am wondering when the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC) will take these games to the next level by creating bocce courts near the beer garden? That would bring an entirely new social scene to the Inner Harbor.
