Here is a link for the new prices the Atlanta Falcons are using for concession stands. The Bills are currently tied for 4th highest prices, while having both the lowest median income and longest playoff drought (see here).
Atlanta is offering those prices as part of a “core philosophy” to say thank you to fans for their loyalty. That is for a team that is consistently good, in a city with a median income of $55,733 vs our $30,502. That is 45% lower, while a beer (or any concession for that matter) is 45% higher in price. As a season ticket holder for both the Sabres and Bills, I have watched prices in both tickets and concessions continue to rise. It is becoming unaffordable for people to enjoy these events and I honestly don’t see how a family could possibly afford to go. This is all during a period where the team performances have been downright bad.
I thought when Pegula bought the team (and being an average fan at one point) that he would want to make the experience great for us. I now realize it is really just a money making scheme and we are being overcharged for in inferior product when compared to other cities. I understand the need to make money, but I have watched these prices go up every year he has owned the team. This is not thanking fans for their loyalty, but rather taking advantage of that loyalty and making it so only the wealthy can afford to go – the rest will have to watch the game from a bar, or at home.
