A new series of yoga classes has sprung up, taught by Shawnell Tillery of Afrochick Yoga. The yoga and meditation classes are aimed at beginners and intermediates. The classes are held twice a week – on Monday mornings (11am to 12pm) and Wednesday evenings (7pm to 8 pm). Attendees are asked to bring their own yoga mats. According to Shawnell’s regimen, the class instructions include:
- Basic yoga instruction to help strengthen body
- Poses and regimens to gain flexibility and agility
- Creative, easy and fun classes that create an overall enjoyable experience
For those who have been looking to get into the weekly ritual of yoga, this is the perfect opportunity to do so. Shawnell has launched a group Facebook page, where members can learn more about the sessions, poses, eating tips… how to stay healthy – mind, body and soul. From learning The Plank and proper breathing techniques, to practicing maintaining poses such as uttanasana, Afrochick Yoga’s lessons and guidance help to strengthen the core and ease the mind.
