On April 20, Grant Street shop owners will be hosting a benefit to support Journey’s End Refugee Services (JERS). The initiative is called Grant Street Gives Back, and was established to help raise money and awareness for an organization that has served as the backbone for refugee services on the city’s West Side. Now, the idea is to ‘give back’ to JERS, so that the dynamic programming may continue on, which will ultimately impact, and therefore strengthen, the Grant Street Market District as a whole.
On that Wednesday, business owners on Grant Street will donate a percentage of sales to JERS. Not only will the event help to support displaced people from war-torn countries who have found a home on the city’s West Side, the initiative will also help to strengthen the Grant Street businesses that serve as the cornerstone of the community.
Participating businesses include G&L Flooring Center, the Gypsy Parlor, Sweet_ness7 Café, the The Pop In and Westside Stories Bookstore.
