Discover Buffalo Sailing via Buffalo Harbor Sailing Club

Living next to one of the largest bodies of fresh water in the world certainly provides Buffalo with some serious benefits. One of those benefits is sailing. At any given time throughout the summer, sailboats can be spotted gliding across the waters.

While many people take sailing for granted, the pastime can appear to be a bit intimidating due to the costs that are normally associated with the activity. Where does one get a boat? Do you have to purchase one? Share one? Know someone that has one?

Actually, getting out on the waters of Lake Erie is a lot easier, and less expensive, than one might think. There are sailing outfits such as Buffalo Harbor Sailing Club that do their best to make sailing as accessible and enjoyable for anyone who is interested in participating in such an aquatic adventure.

Four participants per boat will be coached by experienced mentors. Learn the language of sailing, what makes sailboats move without power and how you control the direction to sail.

This particular sailing program will only set one back $60. After the program is over, participants are added to the Buffalo Harbor Sailing Club crew bank, which opens up additional sailing opportunities moving forward. The program is open to beginners, and those who are looking to brush up on their sailing skills. The program is also great for sailors who are not familiar with the waters of Lake Erie.
