Crossroads Collective is getting ready to throw a roller skating bash that encourages the entire city to come together to enjoy some old school fun. The event is being held at New Skateland Arena, which is the city’s most sensational roller skating rink. Not only will it be a blast to toss on a pair of skates and take to the floor, participants will also be skating for a cause – social, racial, economic, and environmental justice.
Crossroads Collective is comprised of a group of grassroots organizations that are all involved in helping bridge the social, racial, economic and environmental gaps. Events like this bring all sorts of people together, to raise awareness, to make friends, and to promote inclusiveness.
Over the last couple of years, the WASH Project has hosted similar skate parties. Now the movement is growing, and adding more supporters to the bill.
Look around Buffalo these days. There are movements in every corner. Grassroots organizations have been the glue that has helped to keep this city together. Now these groups have something to celebrate, and their inviting you to take part.
The event promises to feature:
- Djs Sike & Jerome
- Dancers from the Verve Dance Studio including the Differential Flava Crew & Rook Hawkins
- Poets Vonetta T. Rhodes and youth writers from the Just Buffalo Literary Center
- Singer Zoe Scruggs
- Food from the West Side Bazaar inside & GG’s Franks outside
This party is FREE ($1 skate rentals for those who don’t have them)
Costumes are encouraged. Movements building is encouraged.
