As Buffalo continues to grow, so does its art scene. Last month there were so many good things happening on First Friday that one had to pick and choose where they were going to spend their time. Well, this month is no different, but there are also some other fun arty events happening that you should check out.
Committed to Memory & Semblance @ Buffalo Arts Studio– Opening Reception, Friday 4/1, 5-8pm with new work by Dorothy Fitzgerald and Tricia Butski (Tri-Main Building, Suite 500, 2495 Main Street, Buffalo). Both shows on view through May 6. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Thursday 11am-5pm, Friday 11am-4pm and Saturday 10am-2pm.
Taper @ Eleven Twenty Projects– Opening Reception, Friday 4/1, 6-9pm with new sculptural work by Scott Bye (1120 Main Street, Buffalo). His work will be on view through May 15. Also, later this month opening on Thursday, April 28, 6-9pm, Rodney Taylor will have new paintings on view.
BLAQ L♡RE ARCADE @ Dreamland– Opening Reception, Friday 4/1, 6-11pm, an afrofuture remix by Obsidian Bellis (387 Franklin Street, Buffalo). Work on view through April 13.
soft FOCUS @ Prism Gallery– Opening Reception, Friday, 4/1 @ 6pm, (224 Allen Street, Buffalo). A collaborative show featuring gender queer artists Obsidian Bellis and Pierce McCleary, brought to you by Just Buffalo Literary Center and Prism Gallery.
Threshold @ Indigo Art– Gallery Talks, Saturday 4/2 @ 1pm with Amy Greenan & Patrick Robideau (47 Allen Street, Buffalo). This exhibition includes paintings and sculpture, and is on view through April 9. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Friday, 12-5pm and Saturday, 12 -3pm.
George Woodman @ Nina Freudenheim Gallery, Opening Reception, Saturday 4/2, 6-9pm (140 North Street, Buffalo- Inside Hotel Lenox). This exhibition will have photographs and drawings from his mosaic title installation at the Delavan/College Light Rail Rapid Transit station. The exhibition is on view through May 11. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Friday, 10am-5pm.
Grand Opening @ Paper Moon Gallery, Friday April 8, 6-9pm (497 Franklin Street, Buffalo). Opening exhibition features work by: Barbara Buckman, Peter Fowler, Michael Pijanowski, Jody Selin & Richard Rockford. This exhibition will be on view through April 30. Gallery hours are Thursday – Saturday 11am-5pm.
13th Biennial Art Auction @ CEPA Gallery, Saturday, April 9, Reception opens at 530pm, Live Auction starts @ 7pm, General Admission Tickets: $75/person, $125/couple; VIP: $150/person, $250/couple (Market Arcade Building, 617 Main Street, Buffalo). 85 art works by local, national and international artists will be available for purchase. Plates and Pasta @ Buffalo Arts Studio, Saturday, April 9, 7-10pm, Tickets: $60/person, $100/couple (Tri-Main Building, Suite 500, 2495 Main Street, Buffalo). Read all About It @ Broadway Market, ongoing through June 15 (999 Broadway, Buffalo). Hours: Monday – Saturday 8am-5pm. This exhibition will feature photographic work by Ron Schifferle and Ron Moscati, from the collection of the SUNY Buffalo Special Collections Archive that reveals the Broadway Market during the mid-late 1970’s.
