Patricio Calderon | Serendipity & Synchronicity @ BCAT

Buffalo Center for Arts and Technology (BCAT) has announced that its artist in residence, Patricio Calderon, will be showing in the new Main Street gallery. Calderon first arrived in Buffalo in January at the behest of Seymour Knox IV who arranged for the Ecuadorian artist to partake in a sabbatical. The arrangement saw the artist working with Buffalo’s youth, via projects that would open themselves up to vast artistic expression. The project was a great success, and was documented in the following video by Buffalo Youth Media Institute and Squeaky Wheel Film & Media Art Center.

Up next Calderon will be displaying his own original works in an exhibit called Serendipity & Synchronicity. Calderon, considered a bit of an international rock star artist in his own right, has had his works of art commission for the likes of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards (hired by fashion editor/stylist Maryam Malakpour).

“Having a world renowned artist of Patricio’s stature is a great way to introduce an Artist-In-Residence concept for our newly born gallery. We cannot wait to see his original work adorning our BCAT walls and halls” states Art Director, Eric Crittenden.

Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
