Loosen the Bible Belt – A Tour for Humanity kicks off in Buffalo

According to the resilient founder of Buffalo’s current comedy scene, Kristen Becker, there’s an event kicking off in Buffalo that you don’t want to miss! Becker has hooked up with Tammy Faye Bakker’s son Jay (Revolution Ministries), who happens to be a radical punk preacher in his own right.

The partnership came about when, one day, Becker was watching TV with her girlfriend. It was then that they came across a show that spoke to them. The show was Bakker’s radical preaching routine (One Punk Under God), which teaches that love and acceptance comes first and foremost, even before religious beliefs.

Intrigued that the message was coming from the son of Tammy Faye, in traditional Becker fashion, she Tweeted him and and the next thing she knew, they were touring together. Now the unlikely couple has enlisted a number of other acts to join their line-up, and the troupe is kicking off their official tour in Buffalo on May 12 at Babeville. The event is called Loosen the Bible Belt – A Tour for Humanity.

At this point, the duo has launched a Kickstarter campaign in order to get the 15 city Bible Belt tour rolling in the right direction.

Coming to Buffalo: A live music, stand-up comedy, preachin’ love and togetherness, at a time when the world could really use some love and laughs. The tour is perfectly timed with recent anti-gay efforts throughout the Bible Belt that continue to suppress people’s freedom.

Give five bucks towards the cause, back the effort by posting on social media, or buy a ticket to the show when it kicks off in Buffalo. You can also follow the show on Facebook. Stay tuned for tour line-ups, times, etc.
