We’ve probably all seen it – the poster that depicts a bunch of snow covered parked cars with the caption “Buffalo NY – Just Another Day in Paradise.”
What many people don’t know is that the image, which is sold at shops all over WNY, is actually not a photo of Buffalo. That’s what a Buffalo school teacher by the name of Alex Miller discovered. The revelation confounded him at first, and then made him upset. That’s when he set out to change up the image, with an aerial photo that shows a different sort of Buffalo winter.
Neil Carroll of Nickel City Graphics hooked Alex up with aerial photographer Mark Brice, and the two set out to capture Buffalo’s winter in a different light. Alex and Mark hope that the image of the city’s snowy Theatre District will soon replace the canned version which is currently sold at stores such as Wegmans.
After taking numerous photos, researching poster quality and sizes, the Buffalo boosters have come up with a format that they hope will soon take the place of the snow covered cars, stuck in a faux Buffalo.
