Airbooth breathes new life into lost South Buffalo paint factory

An abandoned South Buffalo paint factory, circa 1925, has a renewed purpose thanks to a 23-year-old entrepreneur – Buffalo’s own Paul Rubino. Rubino and real estate partner, William Breeser, have acquired the almost 100-year-old, Colgate Avenue building located at 113 Colgate, just off of South Park in South Buffalo. The 15,000 square foot mixed-use industrial space, along with more than three acres, sold for $150,000.

The Colgate Avenue site will be the new location of Mr. Rubino’s thriving businesses – 716 Party Rental. The rental business was formed by Rubino in the spring of 2012. 716 Party Rental will occupy a portion of the building. Rubino’s photo booth sales and manufacturing company, Airbooth, LLC will occupy another potion. Rubino teamed up with local entrepreneur, Vincent Croglio to sell photo booths in the April of 2014.

Rubino started the company at age 20 while attending UB, to help offset his college tuition and support his newborn son, Paul Rubino Jr.

716 Party Rental, Inc. began as a small party rental company with tents, tables, chairs, and DJ Services. Rubino started the company at age 20 while attending UB, to help offset his college tuition and support his newborn son, Paul Rubino Jr. The company has grown each season, now renting over 100 photo booths a year.

inflatable-photo-booth-for-saleRubino was the first in Buffalo to rent inflatable cube enclosure photo booths, and one of the first in the world to market and sell them online. After experience all there is to know about the photo booth rental business, Rubino decided there must be an easier process to transport and set up the photo booths.

The Airbooth is among the lightest weight, fastest to setup, and highest photo quality system in the industry. The kiosk folds in half and rolls for easy transport. The camera box tilts to photograph people of different heights. The touch screen, all in one computers, eliminates extra cords.

“I thank God for all of the support and encouragement I have received from my family, friends and loyal customers.” said Rubino.

Airbooth, LLC, has become one of the élite Photo Booth sales companies in the United States. Airbooth is currently creating local jobs in assembly, customer service, and sales. The Airbooth Kiosk is 100% produced and assembled in Buffalo. Airbooth currently sells predominantly turnkey photo booth packages to new and experienced photo booth businesses primarily in the United States. The photo booth business has become a popular and profitable trend for photographers, DJ’s, and entrepreneurs since 2013.

Since spring of 2014, Airbooth has made its sales mainly online at, B&H Photo & Electronics Corp., and at trade shows. Rubino, considered an expert and key promoter in the industry, will speak for the second year in a row at the 2016 Photo Booth Expo in Las Vegas.

Renovation will be starting soon on the century old structure. “I am thrilled to be able to take a forgotten space and turn it into something productive.” Said Rubino. The remainder of the space will be available for lease.

I have a passion for helping my fellow Western New Yorkers and advance the great things that are going on in this region. Buffalo Rising is a great booster and it’s a blast writing and contributing to BR about positive happenings in our neck of the woods. I appreciate the help I’ve received over the years from organizations and people who share my passion and supported me in efforts that put thousands of people to work and resulted in a community give back of more than $115M to Buffalo’s neediest during my days at the helm of AmeriCorps.

I’m especially grateful for the opportunities that enabled me to help cities devastated by Hurricane Katrina and rebuild more than 700 family homes that were destroyed. Back at home, I was able to enjoy a once in a lifetime experience as a coordinator for ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition where we were able to repair, beautify and upgrade homes for an entire neighborhood on Buffalo’s Westside. Other projects close to my heart include a collaboration with Sail Buffalo to build the Cazenovia Boating Center at Buffalo’s Outer Harbor, and my annual Christmas season time is spent at Buffalo’s treasure, the Broadway Market, playing Santa Clause.

In my other life, I am a workforce development, business, marketing, public relations and fundraising professional. Earned a M.S. Human Service Management from Buffalo State, and enjoy my family life that includes four amazing grandchildren!
