On Saturday, March 26, the Colon Cancer Alliance will be hosting a kickoff party celebrating the Buffalo Undy Run/Walk: 5K Race & 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk. The party is part to raise awareness about the importance of colorectal screening, and part a hat tip to the established walk/run that raises funds for the fight against colon cancer.
The community is encouraged to attend the Blue Bash, which is just one leg of an even larger initiative. Colon cancer is becoming a big deal due to the sheer numbers of people that are faced with the affliction, and the ensuing battles that are fought in hospitals all over the country and the world.
A Blue Hope Hard Hat (BHHH) Initiative is also underway, which is another funding drive where community members purchase hard hats emblazoned with the BHHH insignia. The hats represent Buffalo’s growth, and its ability to come together to tackle serious issues. Combined, the Blue Bash and the BHHH are upping the ante when it comes to the seriousness of this plight, which is affecting too many men in our community. Only by raising awareness and funds, can we combat colon cancer.
Funds from these initiatives to benefit the Colon Cancer Alliance and Independent Health’s Good Neighbor Program locally.
