On Wednesday, March 2, from 5pm to 8pm, the community is invited to give input regarding the Children’s Hospital site proposals that were unveiled recently. Ever since taking a look at the proposals (see here), the redevelopment of the Women & Children’s Hospital campus has been the talk of the town. Each of plans carries its own weight and merit, and each would help to elevate the entire Elmwood District. The event will be “Open Style”, with no formal presentations. All of the projects will be available to view, with information pertaining to each plan available. The public will be able to offer their comments, which will be recorded by the Elmwood Village Association, and noted by the Board of Directors of Kaleida Health, who will ultimately be choosing the designated developer.
The information we gather here will help the Elmwood Village Association to represent community interests in the selection of a designated developer, and, beyond that, throughout the planning and buildout of the campus.
“The reuse of the Children’s hospital campus is a potentially transformative project for the Elmwood Village, and there has been a tremendous amount of interest in the redevelopment proposals since they were presented in January,” said Carly Battin, Executive Director of the Elmwood Village Association. “We want to provide another opportunity for residents, business owners, and members of the community at large to view the proposals and register their questions, comments, and preferences. The information we gather here will help the Elmwood Village Association to represent community interests in the selection of a designated developer, and, beyond that, throughout the planning and buildout of the campus.”
Ciminelli Real Estate, Ellicott Development, Pyramid Brokerage, Sinatra & Company Real Estate and Uniland Development all submitted proposals, which were unveiled in January. At that point, the community had a chance to weigh in. Since that unveiling, Kaleida Health has also been accepting comments on its website. This upcoming public meeting is a way to ensure that the community has a voice in the final selection.
