Each year, Emerging Leaders in the Arts Buffalo (ELAB) produces a performance spectacular called Cirque de la Lune, which incorporates superb artistic feats, along with unexpected thematic twists. The theme for this year’s art circus is Film Noir. Dancers, acrobats, and performance artists will participate in an interactive mystery “penned by Gary Earl Ross, Buffalo’s very own film noir expert and winner of the 2006 Edgar Allan Poe Award from Mystery Writers of America.”
The excitement around the evening revolves around a mystery that is being fervently followed by a private investigator by the name of Sam Steele. The scene of the crime is two dance floors with open photo booths, participatory art installations, live model sketching, a freak show, and fortune tellers. The set is in entombed in circus tents, which line the ballroom. Joining in on the action is: bands, jesters, aerialists, acrobats, fire dancers, burlesque dancing and drag performances.
Grab your sleuth hat and get ready to participate in a thrilling “corporate tech-stealing whodunnit” on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 7pm.
Purchase tickets: $10 advance, online at: ELAB or at the door. Cotton candy, popcorn, and cash bar will be available. Funds will support the future programs of the Emerging Leaders in the Arts Buffalo.
