The North Buffalo Organization (NBO) is hosting a community conversation to discuss the future of the North Park Library site. The engagement will be held on Wednesday, January 27th at 6 PM at Holy Church Spirit Church, 91 Dakota Street (across from the former North Park Library). Councilman Feroleto and a representative from Benderson Development will both be on hand to talk about the development, and the impact that it will have on the community. A Q&A session will follow.
Once the community has an opportunity to offer input regarding the project, the city’s Office of Strategic Planning will then evaluate the plan. Heated discussions have revolved around the development of the site, which is a key parcel along Hertel Avenue. If the Benderson project moves forward as planned, the corner will dramatically change from a park-like setting to commercial infill.
The library was closed in 2008 after the discovery of lead paint residue. Benderson purchased the property for $350K this past November after the city issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the corner.
