Leave Some Take Some – Dreamland New Store Opening

The good folks at Dreamland have come up with a rather unusual take on shopping. On Saturday, January 30, the DIY artist collective will be opening a permanent, free, barter store in the back of its creative space. Browsers will be able to visit the shop, take what they like, and leave something behind in the process.

The point is to “declutter and regather” in a way that works for everyone. Shoppers will be able to exchange two items at any given time – clothing, books, plants, shoes, art supplies, etc. The exchange items must be in good shape in order to make the barter exchange. There’s also an honesty policy, where shoppers can snag a couple of items, and then bring a couple of things to replenish at a later date.

Dreamland is currently looking for shelving units and clothing racks, in order to display the merchandise. If you have something that might work, email

*Leave Some Take Some requests items in good condition:
CLEAN clothing
Small Potted plants
Art Supplies
Photo/Picture Frames
Books (Art, DIY, design, sci-fi/fantasy, social justice, queer, philosophy, poetry, zines…)
[Dreamland will not accept items that are not in these categories]

Store hours are during events. Events are plentiful.

Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
