When Lodina Clyburn took over 515 Main Street as the Building Manager, she had a vision of what could become of the space, and how it could contribute to the revitalization of Downtown. In working with the building owner, Roger Trettel, she has now become the Director of this space that is set to open to the public this Friday, January 22, from 5-11pm, with art, live music, food and beverages.

Local emerging artist and curator, Cole Pawlowski, will be working with Lodina as the Exhibitions Curator, and will offer his first curated show to the public at the event on Friday. This group exhibition titled, Resurgence: Growth of a City and a People, will feature works by Buffalo artists: Jareal Adams, Kerima Collier, Richard Rockford, Amy Lynn Duengefelder, Laura Borneman, Robert Then, Mark Brice, Michael Mulley, Kenneth Clyburn, George Smith and Cole Pawlowski. The exhibition is a celebration of the artistic and cultural diversity that can be currently found in the area, and mirrors the current state that the region is experiencing with the “Buffalo Renaissance”.
Works on view will range from paintings, and photographs to sculpture, and will reflect the varied stages of the artists’ career. Resurgence: Growth of a City and a People, will be on view through February 19, with business hours Monday – Saturday, 9am – 5pm.
Also at the opening there will be live music performed by the Sabu Adeyola Trio, a Jazz ensemble from 5-8pm, and Darth Nater, a Jazz/Funk fusion band from 8-11pm. This sort of line up will be a focus for Lodina, as she plans to have activities and events every night, showcasing local talent and providing artists, educators, makers, musicians, theater groups and writers opportunities, while utilizing the space during the day and on weekends for art and music workshops.
Main Street Gallery will also be available to the public as a rentable venue for events and pop up shows. The space is available on a sliding scale, because their mission is to accommodate everyone.
