Construction Watch: Phoenix Gets Windowed

Renovation work on the Phoenix Brewing Building at 835 Washington Street continues with a projected May opening. The development team is led by Sinatra & Company Real Estate and Carmina Wood Morris designed the project. The Circa-1888 structure was built as Buffalo’s first brewery and was purchased by the developers in April 2014.

The $7.65 million Phoenix Brewery Apartments will feature 31 one and two-bedroom apartments. They will be the first luxury housing within the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. Enclosed parking for 24 cars and 3,000 sq.ft. of commercial space is also planned. A model apartment unit is expected to be available for viewing in March.

Ten percent of the profits from the project will go to Say YES Buffalo, a community education collaborative aimed at increasing high school and post-secondary completion rates.

Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
