Back in August of 2013 I wrote about artist Colleen Darby, who was setting out to build an organization that would help to illuminate the lives of sick children (see here). Her idea was simple – to brighten up the clinical rooms where young patients stayed when they were receiving treatment. Instead of being surrounded by blank walls, Colleen wanted to create vibrant and imaginative imagery, so that the children could be inspired, instead of feeling scared and alone.
Colleen’s Kickstarter program was a success, which means that she is ready to move forward with applying some of her works to the program. In coming weeks, she will be unveiling nineteen of her paintings, that will one day grace the walls of hospital rooms. The exhibit will be held at the Kevin Guest House (766 Ellicott Street).
“There will be a sneak peek for BNMC employees on Thursday, January 28th 4-6pm,” Colleen told me. “Opening night is Friday, January 29 from 5:30-8:30pm, and I will be painting the 20th of the LandEscape series from January 30 to February 4th from 12-4pm. That final painting will be donated back to the Kevin Guest House for their new building, and for every original that is sold I will donate a reproduction to the facility, hospital or medical space of the buyer’s choice.”
Kevin Guest House & Colleen Wall-Darby cordially invite you to LANDESCAPES – Art exhibit of inspirational paintings created for medical spaces.
